The Marked Men show at the Empty Bottle was awesome.
First band. Meh.
Second band. There we go.
Headliner. YES. PLEASE. And THANK YOU.
I was at the back edge of the pit and it was just where I wanted to be. Getting doused in shitty beer and pushing dudes back into the frenzy. So fun.
And typically on NYE, I have no one to kiss at midnight. No idea how this happens but it’s practically tradition. And this year, the person I wanted to be kissing was elsewhere (yes, you, you are probably reading this) but magically I had my old friend Rob to my right and new friend Dan on my left. And my girl Aimee who made the rounds — and was wasted and slipped me the tongue. I reciprocated.
The eight of us proceeded to wander back to Aimee’s in Humboldt. I promptly opened the 40 of Mickey’s purchased earlier in the evening. We turned on It’s Always Sunny, ate flamin’ hot cheesy poofs and I passed out in an oversized armchair.
Woke up bright and early, made my way home, slept for two hours, went to brunch at Flo’s with old friends (chilaquiles), saw Django Unchained (amazing), finished reading Joe Meno’s “Office Girl” (January book club selection, <3), enjoyed impromptu girl time at Rev with Martha and Mo (and saw a gazillion beer friends) and got in some bike time. If I had better “face protection,” I would’ve ridden downtown for a nice quite weeknight adventure. But that wind was a bitch and painful with my ill-fitting hat and scarf. Anyways…
So far 2013 is kickin’ ass. Let’s see if I can keep the momentum going….
