Chicago Craft Beer Week is May 17-27, in case you haven’t heard.
Put on yer drinking pants & hang onto your liver!
Glad you like it! I wish we had more!
What a revelation Generator has been this season. Working my way through a number of stouts and porters that typify the winter season, my night at Watershed Bar was coming to a close when I ordered “just one more.” Enter the Metropolitan Generator Doppelbock.
A big, effervescent…
There are two firkins being tapped in the city this weekend!

Cask beer is best enjoyed fresh so get yourselves over to these fine establishments before the end of the weekend!
And costume #2: 80s Budweiser Goose Island Girl.
Made the shirt. The back says “This 312’s for you.” All in good fun, friends who work at GI.
Chicago Craft Beer Week 2011!
Opening event was at “Beer Under Glass” at the Garfield Park Conservatory and was a ton of fun.
All of the Metro Brewing events are here, as some/most are not in the “Passport:” bit.ly/metroccbw11
Today: sponsoring the Drinking & Writing Theater’s annual Beerfly Alleyfight (Haymarket Brewpub), beer dinner at Long Room (food from City Provisions, Vanilla Vixen dessert, paired with Metro, Stone, Lagunitas, Two Bros, Victory, Left Hand), we have a Zwickel Flywheel at the Craft Day Afternoon benefit event
Otherwise:
Party!
Metropolitan Brewing is heading to the Map Room tonight in Bucktown for a sweet pairing event. Checkout this lineup of Metro brews paired with Indonesian cuisine from the Rice Table:
— Iron Works Alt and Rendang Dagin (slow braised beef in a coconut red curry with lemon grass). SPICY
— Krankshaft Kölsch and Tahi Pedis (spicy stir fried tofu with red chiles, sliced onions and tamarind). VERY SPICY, VEGAN
— Flywheel Bright Lager and Ayam Djahe (succulent braised chicken in a sweet soy and ginger broth. MILD
Purchase one of the featured beers and get the Rice Table pairing for free! 7pm start time.
Here’s the Facebook event page. Spread the word!
I had been saving this Two Brothers Reprieve for almost two weeks. Couldn’t wait any longer. I love me some schwarzbier! Happy lunch beer!
BYOB…. who doesn’t enjoy a good BYOB dinner? And who hasn’t dreamt of plopping a 1/6th-barrel down next to your table and opening the tap, letting the beer flow freely? Okay, maybe it’s just my alcohol-soaked dream but you get the idea…
However, tonight my dream becomes a reality: We’ll be at a cozy Andersonville BYOB, serving Metro to whomever wants it. For free. NSA.
It’s a pizza/pasta place with an extensive gluten-free menu. Any guesses?
See you at 6!
Paul is not just holding any beer at Wrigley on Opening Day…
It’s Metropolitan Brewing’s Krankshaft!
Krankshaft, along with several other fine craft beers, is now on tap at the Captain Morgan Club. I really cannot believe “my” beer is in the Friendly Confines. My Grandma would be so proud!
So now you can cheer local, eat local (Vienna Beef) and drink local (Metro, Two Bros) at Wrigley.
And an added “awesome” extra: the old tap list was Bud, Bud Light, Shocktop, Stella and 312. Talk about a mother-effin’ sea change.

For a lot of people, this may seem to be just another business transaction but in my mind it is totally spitting in the face of craft beer. Solidarity in the industry rises from the fight against the Big Three. Not fucking joining them. AB’s portfolio accounts for 48.3% of all retail beer sales.
Goose, you are dead to me. And I’m sorry for my friends who work there, it’s nothing personal of course.
Now I’ll go back to supporting the independent area breweries like Metro, Two Brothers, Half Acre, Three Floyd’s and all of our wonderful brewpubs (Rev, Haymarket, Flossmoor, Piece, etc.)
Edit: Letter from Goose founder John Hall. And a more detailed article on BeerAdvocate (looks like the offical press release).
So far, so good. This makes me happy! I am digging the sh*t out of our new beer. Glad to see other people are too! (Even though I’m so “over” review websites like Yelp and the people on BA are scary-intense most of the time.)
